I have just received my order from Steve at Colonial Tonewoods .Now, I'm not in the habbit of posting here about every order I receive , but feel I must in this special case . I now have this WOW,WOW,WOW , Pommele African figured Mah. (pictured below) It is out standing. He also hand picked the most fabulous Bearclaw Sitka Top . This was obviously the bear's favorite tree , and man , is it stiff !
I also now have some curly Maple binding which is to die for . I have it all laid out on my benches and believe me when I say , my head is "swimming "
If any of you out there are after the very best you can get, then don't hesitate ! You better get in quick ! PLEASE DON"T TAKE IT ALL ! Leave some for us "down under "
His very personal service and "follow up's " ( and advise ) has been much more than helpful .Through my dealings , I now consider that I have gained a true mate ! On ya Steve !

He also did something very special for me , and I'm sorry , I'm not able to tell you what that is , at Steve's request . It was completley unexpected and bought me to near tears . This man is a wonderful human being . Please support him .

Holy cow, Craig...can you get us a better picture that doesn't have the
flash flare. From what I can tell that stuff is insanely figured.

while we are talkin Steve-O!

allow me to show you this Ovankol 12 fret dred I am making for him. This wood combination is Steves personal choice, it has a red spruce top from and old saw mill beam that Steve salvaged. I belive it to be somewhere near 100 years old.

please forgive my standard guitar up against tree photography

Matt that is sure a pretty guitar. Nice 12 fret round shoulder. Yes sir, that is one pretty combo. That snow in the background gives me chill bumps. Great work. How's it sound?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. This is the best forum with the BEST vendors and I'm glad I can be apart of the family. If you haven't picked up on this by now, I'm a full blown woodaholic! I've been very blessed when it comes to finding old lumber. I have *my source* and believe me when I found *my source* it was like I'd found the Holy Grail of tonewoods.....and there was much rejoicing...
I made a trip last week to my source and picked up some very, very old Honduras mahogany (1960's) in the form of these large blocks. The blocks were originally intended for bowl blanks...glad I got to them.
At any rate I managed to get some really nice back and side sets, a few neck blanks, and some nice neck and tail block material...
Thought I'd share pics with everyone.

Thanks Bruce, the guitar sounds terrific, the ovankol is is a really nice wood that is easy to work with. I would say it is like east indian, but maybe a bit denser. bends well, joins well and finishes really well.

also the snow is melting fast, and we will be warm here today...maybe as warm as 50 degrees...Yay!
